Buhl Park Golf Course and Driving Range

For the nation’s only free nine-hole golf course, visit Buhl Park Golf Course and Driving Range at 1290 Forker Blvd. in Hermitage. Frank Buhl established this course in 1914 with his vision of a free golf course with no cart or green fees. All golfers must sign in before playing, and donations to keep the course going are encouraged but not required.
The driving range features a fully automated ball dispenser. You can purchase balls using a credit card or cash for $7 for a small bucket or $10 for a large bucket. You can also get a range fob if preferred. The golf course and driving range are open from dawn to dusk daily, except on Thursday, when it opens at noon for morning maintenance. Upcoming events for this golf season include the 27-Hole Scrambler, Adult and Child Classic, and the Ladies Tee Off.
Buhl Park offers monthly clinics from April through September for $50 per person on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Junior Program for golfers ages 4 to 18 is offered three times this upcoming season. Each session is eight weeks long, meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays for $100 per session. Junior events include the Two-Person Scramble in May, Two-Person Best Ball in June, the Adult/Child Classic in July, and Junior Championship in August. Private lessons are also available at Buhl Park Golf Course.
You can also use the TrackMan Golf Simulator, available to rent year-round, seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., to practice your swing. This revolutionary training tool tracks the full trajectory of any shot between six feet and 400 yards to help you improve your game.
Tam O’Shanter Pennsylvania Golf Course
Check out the Tam O’Shanter Pennsylvania Golf Course at 2961 S. Hermitage Road in Hermitage for a golf course with a hole nicknamed Death Valley. Jack Kerins bought the golf course in 1947 and hired Sam Snead to put on an exhibition show to boost business. Other famous golfers have teed up at Tam O’Shanter, such as Arnold Palmer, who played the course as a teen.
Tam O’Shanter Pennsylvania Golf Course offers junior golf, lessons, and leagues. They also host tournaments throughout the year, including the Leo Williams Syndrome Scramble and Tam O’Shanter Senior Open. Yankee Run Golf Course
Located at 7610 Warren – Sharon Road in Brookfield Township, Ohio, you’ll find Yankee Run Golf Course , an 18-hole golf course situated on 150 acres of rolling terrain. The fourth-generation McMullin family currently owns this 89-year-old public golf course. Membership plans are available for five or seven days as either a riding or a walking membership and can also be purchased as monthly and annual memberships. Yankee Run Golf Course also offers a junior walking membership for younger golfers.
You’ll also find a lunch service, cocktail lounge, and picnic shelter designed for up to 150 people at Yankee Run Golf Course. They have pull carts, riding carts, and rental clubs available for your use on the fully watered fairways, greens, and tees. Field days and outings are welcome at Yankee Run so you can plan your next event on the course.
Oak Tree Golf Course
Another option in nearby West Middlesex, Pennsylvania, is the Oak Tree Golf Course . This club first opened in 1967 and offers golfers an 18-hole course with superb amenities and outstanding service. Oak Tree Golf Course does require membership as a semi-private club, while the other three courses here are open to the public. You’ll find many membership options to fit your golfing needs, whether you’re a seasoned expert or just beginning to learn how to golf.
Memberships are available for individuals, families, and junior and senior golfers. They include benefits such as no green fees, one range basket per day, lockers, and discounts on equipment and sportswear. They also offer a practice facility season pass for unlimited range use and practice greens, excluding event days. The 7,000-square-foot outdoor practice facility includes a putting green and chipping green with a sand bunker for you to practice your shot. You’ll also find a driving range with markers.
