2024 Chevy Equinox EV – Electric Equinox Price, Range & More

Chevy Equinox EV

The 2024 Equinox EV

Chevy’s Equinox EV shares its name with the gas-powered Equinox, but it’s an entirely new vehicle with a unique design. The Equinox EV will be a two-row crossover when it hits showrooms late in 2023 in time for the 2024 model year. We’re still a bit out from the release date, so we don’t know everything about what this new addition to Chevy’s growing EV lineup will include. Here’s a rundown of what our Chevy experts at #1 Cochran have found out so far.

Equinox EV Power Train and Fuel Economy

The exact details about the Equinox EV’s power train aren’t available yet, but we have a rough idea of what to expect thanks to the power train offered in the Bolt EUV, Chevy’s first all-electric SUV. The Bolt EUV’s power train consists of a single motor and a lithium-ion battery pack that combines to put out 200 horsepower.

The Equinox EV is slightly bigger than the Bolt EUV, and we expect it will have an all-wheel-drive option(AWD). If it does offer AWD, the Equinox EV will have a second motor on the rear axle, which will give its power train more horsepower than the Bolt EUV. Chevy has indicated that the Equinox EV’s battery will have a driving range of up to 300 miles when it’s fully charged.

Chevy Equinox EV Infotainment and Safety Features

From what we’ve seen of the interior design, we’re expecting the Equinox EV to have an impressive range of infotainment tech for you to explore. The large infotainment display housed within the futuristic dashboard is likely to be larger than the standard 7-inch display available in the gas-powered Equinox. Industry observers expect a long list of standard connectivity options, with KBB suggesting that a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto will likely be offered in the Equinox EV’s base trim.

We also expect cutting-edge safety features to play a prominent role in the Equinox EV. The hands-free cruise control developed by GM is set to make highway driving a whole lot easier. Other popular driver assistance technology, such as lane keep assist, emergency braking, and parking sensors will be available.

Equinox EV SUV Interior

GM has released a few pictures of the Equinox EV’s interior that suggest the cabin’s dimensions will be larger than the Bolt EUV and similar to the gas-powered Equinox. That means two spacious rows of seating for up to five passengers and a roomy cargo area at the rear for transporting your vacation luggage or daily cargo.

The gas-powered Equinox has about 30 cubic feet of storage at the rear, which is more than enough to carry several suitcases. With the rear row folded down, you get 63 cubic feet of space, enough to transport bulkier household items. We anticipate that similar storage dimensions could be offered in the Equinox EV, but we’ll have to wait until fall 2023 to have this speculation confirmed.

The Equinox EV’s interior design takes some inspiration from the Silverado EV, Chevy’s electric truck, which is expected to hit showrooms earlier in 2023. The Equinox EV will feature a digital dashboard and a modern-looking steering wheel, which showcases the green LED light associated with GM’s hands-free cruise control.

Equinox EV Trims and Price

Not a lot of information is out yet about the Equinox EV’s trim specifications and precise pricing. However, we’re expecting Chevy’s latest electric SUV to have a base MSRP of approximately $30,000. Depending on how many trims are included, the higher end of the lineup could cost over $40,000.

Chevy has confirmed two initial trims for the Equinox EV: the LT and RS. If they retain the trim levels used in other Chevy models, we would expect an LS trim to fit in below the LT, and a Premier trim to slot in above the RS. We’ll have to wait until later in 2023 to see how many trims Chevy decides to offer. Automakers often restrict EVs during their first model year to one or two trims. For example, Chevy’s all-new Silverado EV is initially being released with just one trim, with further offerings expected as the year progresses.
