Since its debut, electric car technology is improving rapidly due to the emergence of various battery and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. But what are the benefits of purely electric cars? Here’s all you need to know about the Nissan, Chevy, Buick, and GMC electric vehicles that you can find and pre-order at #1 Cochran in Youngstown, Ohio.
Electric cars have onboard lithium-ion batteries that can store large amounts of energy and then use it to power the wheels. These batteries are separate from the traditional car batteries that are used to start an alternator and power electrical systems. Electric cars are not hybrids in any way and have no gas tank, engine, or other parts that are required for liquid fuel combustion. They don’t even have tailpipes since they don’t have an exhaust.
The three essential components for an electric vehicle are the motor, battery, and controller. The controller changes the direct current (DC) in the battery into an alternating current (AC). Coupled with the other systems, this current change is essential to generate forward motion.
You can plug in an EV at a growing number of charging stations or simply at your home. Some automakers are testing new options, such as charging platforms that you merely park over. In their first few years, electric cars did not have nearly as much range, but now it’s normal for budget-price EVs to travel between 100 and 200 miles or more on a single charge. Although the future of transportation will change in several ways, some predictable and some not, most would agree that electric cars are built from a more sustainable starting point than fuel-burning cars.
Let’s examine a few reasons why so many folks around Youngstown are making the switch to an electric vehicle:

Nissan’s lineup of EVs includes the Nissan Leaf, an affordable electric vehicle designed for urban commuting, offering a comfortable ride and a range of standard safety features. With its accessible starting price below $28,000, it is the most affordable electric vehicle on the market. The cabin provides ample space, supportive front seats, and adult-friendly rear seats. The Leaf S gets an equivalent MPG rating of around 111 MPG on a charge, making it great for getting around town.
Nissan expanded its lineup of EVs with the release of the Nissan Aryia SUV, which offers a sporty design and a driving range of up to 304 miles. With two battery options and the choice of front or all-wheel drive, the Ariya offers the versatility of an SUV with the benefits of an electric vehicle. Though more expensive than the Leaf, it is cheaper than the Tesla Model Y. The Ariya provides a calm and stable ride that’s great for both commuting and transporting the family. Keep an eye out for them at #1 Cochran Nissan of Boardman!
Chevrolet was one of the trendsetters back when electric cars and hybrids were still very new. The current electric Chevrolet vehicles that are on the market are:
Apart from the 2022 release of the Equinox EV and Blazer EV, the automaker hasn’t announced any further plans yet. The Silverado EV should release in the fall of 2023, while the Blazer is planned to arrive in the summer of that year.
Buick does not have any electric cars for sale at present, although they do release hybrids. Moreover, the Lacrosse and Regal have had hybrid versions in the past. More Buick electric models are likely to appear in the coming years, and when they do, you’ll be able to pre-order them using our handy website.
Some people mistakenly hear of the 2024 Buick Electra as a new model that was announced recently. Actually, the name Electra is a suffix that will appear on all Buick EV models, starting with the Wildcat EV or Wildcat Electra. Buick initially announced new electrification plans with the Wildcat EV concept and revealed a bold new take on the automaker’s exterior style.
GMC entered the electric vehicle market recently with the Hummer EV, which is the return of the classic boxy SUV as the following two new models: an all-electric SUV and an all-electric pickup with the same frame. A new GMC Sierra EV is expected to be revealed in late 2022.
General Motors also owns Cadillac, which has the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ with the same Ultium architecture as that of the Hummer EV. The luxury cruiser brand’s breakout luxury car, the LYRIQ, is a sharp SUV with a modern cabin and the following two drive configurations: rear-wheel drive with a single motor and all-wheel drive with dual motors. The maximum range is 312 miles on the single-motor LYRIQ. The new Ultium battery platform allows for DC fast charging and standard home connections.
The main vehicles to watch out for from GMC are the following two versions of the Hummer: SUV and Pickup. Both are planned for availability in early 2023. The Pickup truck model gets up to 1,000 horsepower, and both types can tow up to 11,500 pounds with the proper equipment. GMC estimates around 350 miles of range for the Pickup and around 300 miles for the SUV.
GMC intends to release several electric vehicles, including the highly anticipated Sierra EV and other upcoming models.

Electric vehicles run on electricity. So, in order to keep your costs low, it’s wise to ensure you’re on the best EV tariff for your needs.
Not, they don’t. An electric vehicle is less likely to break down compared to a gas-powered car due to the fact that it has fewer moving parts at one time.
Yes, You can drive through puddles and charge your EV safely in the rain. A covered charging station should be preferred when it is currently raining, but it will not affect the charging of your EV when parked outside.
